The Best of Golf Instagramers

The Best Golf Instagram Accounts to Follow: A diverse list (In absolutely no particular order)

One minute videos. Clips of longer youtube videos. Replays of events that just happened. Slow motion footage of the greatest, or most mediocre, or (sometimes the happiest of all) the absolute worst golf swings in the world today. Freaking hilarious golf memes. Beautiful pictures of fantastic golf courses. Beautiful pictures of women playing not so fantastic golf courses. Golf instruction of every shape, size, and flavor imaginable. Multiple genuine Paige Spiranac accounts. And more freaking hilarious golf memes.
Instagram was practically #taylormade for golf.
Following any one of the accounts below will lead you down a rabbit hole so deep and full of old Top Flites you may never get out again. And following all of them may lead to the complete alienation of your family. You have been warned.
Golf is just that addicting.
And so are these addicts we’ve been following for years:

Fore Play Pod @foreplaypod
These wild and crazy guys are a For the People, by the People sort of organization. If by wild and crazy you mean two dudes doing a podcast out of what appears to be their handsomely finished garage. Which I think many wives out there might. And they just floor me. They think like you. They talk like you. And they golf like you. It’s beyond interesting. It’s perfect.

Pro Golf Swings Daily @progolfswings
This is an account whose videos I have left many a comment. Mostly after some wine when I’ve gotten overly and overtly sentimental. If I recall correctly, I’ve mentioned to the admin of the account that they are, “…the greatest account on Instagram…” and also, “Why do we even need other accounts on Instagram…” and a little regrettably, “I’m going to unfollow everyone else so that when I open Instagram you’re the only thing I see…” I mean I probably wasn’t being totally serious. But this account is as pure as it gets. It is 100% exactly what it advertises itself to be. Professional. Slow motion. Golf swings. Every post. From everywhere. PGA. LPGA. European tours. Every developmental tour. Up and coming college talent. And top level amateurs. It’s outstanding. Curated beyond reproach. And it might be my favorite thing ever.

On the Green TV @onthegreentv
If you go to any given Instagram account you’ll see the three options that appear right above their pictures. The first option is the default setting. The thumbnails. The last one is for content that account has been tagged in or places they’ve been tagged. But the middle one is the scroll setting. Where every picture or video the account has ever posted is lined up one after the other. With On the Green TV I recommend a nice set of earbuds and this setting. You could just go on and on and on watching the most entertaining golf clips and videos and memes that have ever been made. Their last post was a scene from Cheers where Woody “wins” a trophy. I could just die.
Golf Rules Questions @golfrules_questions
This account could win the golf humanitarian award. If we ever got around to making up such a thing. At least for the golf layman. If you’re a high level professional athlete I think they hand you the Heisman Humanitarian award. Last year Ernie Els got one. But whoever the person running @golfrules_questions is deserves one as well. Even if they didn’t help out with hurricane relief. Because they do it free of charge. Merely out of the goodness of their heart . And, presumably, an absolute love of the game. They ask people to write in at golfrules.questions@gmail.com with their questions about the game and how the rules work, and then this beautiful human being posts the answers.
I just spent 10 minutes trying to find a Listverse.com article that I read 7 years ago about how the rulebooks for basketball, baseball, football, and soccer are like 10 pages long, and the rulebook for golf is a 1000 page manuscript that you can’t possible understand without a lawyer. I couldn’t find it. It might have been a Cracked.com article. 7 years is a long time. Who knows what I was reading. The point is: This person on Instagram is a saint. And if you have any love for the game or the history of the game you should follow this person and say thank you a lot.

Divot Diggers @divotdiggersgolf
The description on this account is practically all you need. “Just a guy who sucks at golf posting about other people that suck at golf.” It’s, I think, 50% hilarious memes about golf. And 50% videos of golfers doing amazing things, funny things, or just downright terrible things.

PGA tour @pgatour
Following this account is a true gateway to following your favorite tour pros. Even if you don’t want to follow the PGA as an organization, by just clicking the follow button virtually half of the best players in the field pop up for you to easily click on and follow. Plus, they do a pretty great job of keeping you informed as to which event is coming up, what just happened on tour, and whether or not Tiger is playing this week. If you care about those sorts of things.

The Cartbarnguys @cartbarnguys
These guys are amazing. They’re favorite thing in the world to do is to film a stinger shot from ground level. Even if they did nothing else, their footage of stinger after stinger sailing and twisting close to the ground (usually at some distant flagstick) is inspirational, was revolutionary, and worth a follow. They’re love for the game and the magic therein is unbridled and unmatched. And they’re connected to literally every other great  voice and advocate for the game on Instagram.

Joe Miller @joemillerldc
We believe that if you’re going to be a well-rounded enthusiast that you have to have your fingers on the pulse of more than one aspect of the game. Not that you have to know the stats of every miniature golf pro out there. (Seriously. It’s a thing. Like a big deal in Vegas. I think the winner this year won $250,000 dollars. It’s nuts.) But the long drive champions are an incredible part of what we love. Golf is power and precision. And these guys are absolutely pure in one vein. Distance. And the ways they accomplish this feat are mind boggling and beautiful. My favorite is this guy. @joemillerldc. He’s an enormous Englishman. I mean his just a monster. He can swing a driver well over 150 mph. (For those of you keeping track at home, the pga average driver clubhead speed is 113 mph. And the fastest swing of anyone on tour barely reached 130.) He swears happily. Posts videos of himself driving par 5 greens. And is just a wonderfully cool man. Give him a follow and your world will instantly be more exciting.

My Golf Spy @mygolfspy
If you love equipment, and being in the know, and hearing about tests and numbers and reviews from people who aren’t biased or being paid to say something that isn’t entirely true, these people are for you. That’s literally all they do. It’s not always fun or easy to hear the truth. But these guys do their best to give it to you straight and to take the kid-gloves off when necessary. If you’ve been playing the same blade irons for 20 years and swear that there’s nothing better than hitting an old balata golf ball with a wooden persimmon, then this probably isn’t the best place for you. But if you’re interested in new technology and how actuality might differ from the advertisement, follow these guys now.

Golf Gods @golf_gods
This is the place you see viral golf stuff first. Memes. Videos. Dirty old man stuff. Dirty young man stuff. And everything in between. If it’s about golf, funny, and circulating the internet, these people will find it for you. If nothing else, it’s a great account to help break up those tense moments and feelings that can ball up inside you when you’re passionate about the game. Because, after all, it is a game. And games are supposed to be fun. They’re supposed to be played. So laugh with these guys and give them a follow.

If you’ve been on Instagram long enough you’ve likely run into a few more fantastic accounts. Leave their handle in the comments so we can check them out too! Make sure to follow us @golfingemporium and like our Facebook page! Our next post will be about our favorite Youtubers! So stay tuned!

The Best Golf Youtube Channels

We don’t have cable. We don’t have bunny ears either. We have smart TVs. They came preloaded with apps for Netflix and Hulu and Amazon so that our subscriptions just run fluidly onto every screen in the house. My father-in-law lends me use of his cable login information so I can watch The Golf Channel on my phone. And I really don’t see the point in having more than that. For paying more to get cable when all of our needs are so amply met. For a quarter the price. Especially when you factor in that each of those TVs also has Youtube for free.                 If I ever made it to the PGA tour I would have to stitch a huge Youtube logo on the front of my bag. Without any endorsement deal. I take that back. OF COURSE I’LL TAKE THE ENDORSEMENT. But what I mean is what haven’t I learned from the hundreds, possib...

Callaway Certified Pre-Owned and the Car Buying Experience

Working to earn tradable currency might be one of the strangest things we do. We toil all day for small pieces of paper that we immediately turn around and trade in for goods and services. We want and need things. So we work at a completely unrelated task for someone else. So that they’ll give us money. Paper. Coins. That have practically magical values, worth beyond their corporeal reality. Which we then solve our own problems with by giving them to someone else who, in turn, gives us the thing we wanted in the first place. If you stop and think about any system we’ve created as a species, it’s all a little bizarre. But, if you stop and think about anything for long enough, it will absolutely start to seem absurd. As a general tip, try not to do it. Especially in terms of your own golf swing. Or golf swing mechanics et al. But, if we must, and per the case of this blog we absolutely do, let us consider the way in which we obtain the things that we want. In the cate...

The Bladed Balata I: How Golfing Saved my Life

I first picked up a golf club the year after my mom died. And it saved my life. I grew up in a magical, if not entirely backwards, period known as the 1980s. In addition to my miraculous survival through an era when seatbelts were practically optional, organic hadn’t been invented yet, and parents only had the wisdom that their parents had passed down to them, my childhood was spent in a very small town. The year I was born, it’s population was just over six hundred people. And so, my beginning was spent as the oldest child of a barely-making-ends-meet working class family of five, in a three-bedroom house that stood next to a filbert orchard in Dundee, Oregon. In that town, whose only municipal buildings were a single post office and an elementary school, my parents, for fear my brain would rot or my soul lost to the devil, forbade me many things. Mind you, I was allowed to do some th...
